Licence and terms

01The agreement

Bracketware is published by Ownerstate, 7030 Woodbine Ave, Suite 500, Markham, Ontario L3R 6G2, Canada. Effective August 22, 2026.

Purchases through the Mac App Store use Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and App Store Usage Rules. Google Play purchases are also subject to Google's applicable Play terms, with the Bracketware licence below applying to the software. Direct-download purchases are licensed by Ownerstate under the direct terms on this page. No channel replaces rights that apply under mandatory law.

02What your purchase gets you

Bracketware has no subscription, Bracketware account, licence server, activation check, or time limit.

• A Mac App Store purchase may be installed and used as permitted by Apple's Standard EULA and Usage Rules.
• A Google Play purchase may be installed and used on Android devices as permitted by Google Play's applicable terms.
• A direct purchase grants one person or organization a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use version 1 on Apple-branded Macs that person or organization owns or controls.
• Run tournaments commercially or otherwise. The app enforces no tournament or participant cap; practical limits depend on available memory and storage.
• All 20 formats and every feature are included. There is no tier above this one.

03What it does not cover

• Redistributing, reselling, renting, sublicensing, sharing the paid installer with third parties, or publishing the application outside the rights granted for your purchase channel.
• Reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling the application, except where law expressly permits it regardless of this clause.
• Removing or altering copyright or attribution notices.

The software is licensed, not sold. Ownerstate retains ownership of the application itself.

04Your data is yours

Everything you create with Bracketware — rosters, tournaments, results, exports — belongs to you. No ownership claim is made over it, and none of it is transmitted to us. See the privacy policy.

05Updates

Mac App Store and Google Play updates are delivered by their respective stores. Direct purchases do not contain an automatic updater; direct customers can revisit the paid download page or contact support from the purchase email address for the current version 1 installer.

A future major version may be a separate paid upgrade. If so, it will be optional, and your version 1 licence continues to work indefinitely.

06Refunds

Mac App Store billing and refund requests are handled by Apple. Google Play billing and refund requests are handled by Google, each under the store's current purchase and refund processes.

For a direct purchase, email support@bracketware.com from the purchase address within 14 days if Bracketware does not launch on a supported Mac or materially fails to provide functionality advertised on this site. Ownerstate will first try to resolve the problem and, if it cannot, will refund the direct purchase through Stripe.

Your statutory rights as a consumer apply and are not reduced by this page.

07Warranty and liability

Bracketware is provided as-is. Software has bugs, and this is a tool you should treat like any other tool that matters on the day: take a backup before your event, and keep a paper score sheet if the stakes justify one. The application keeps three recovery snapshots per tournament for exactly this reason.

For Mac App Store purchases, warranty and liability are governed by Apple's Standard EULA and applicable law. Google Play purchases are also subject to Google's applicable terms. For direct purchases, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Ownerstate is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and total liability is limited to the amount paid for Bracketware. Nothing on this page excludes a warranty, right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

08Ending the licence

You may stop using Bracketware at any time; see removing it and its data. Store-purchase licence termination is governed by the applicable store terms. A direct licence ends if you materially breach these terms and do not remedy the breach after notice. Your tournament data remains yours.

09Governing law and changes

Apple's Standard EULA specifies the governing law for the Mac App Store licence, and Google Play purchases remain subject to Google's applicable terms. Direct purchase terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without displacing mandatory consumer protections or a jurisdiction that the law does not permit these terms to displace.
